Motor insurer offers cheap policy with strict curfew

Which? Magazine recently reported that a motor insurance company is offering young drivers insurance premiums at a 40% reduction provided they stick to a curfew by not driving between 11pm and 5am.

However, those who decide to opt for this unique type of young drivers insurance cover will do so at some cost to their liberty; they must have a global positioning system device fitted to their car that allows the motor insurance company to track their compliance with the curfew.

"One in five young people drive without insurance, partly because it is so expensive. Innovative policies such as this will hopefully go some way to reducing the number of uninsured motorists in the roads, and keep more your motorists safe," said Which?'s car insurance expert.

The insurer behind the innovation say that policyholders will be charged £25 for every time they drive within curfew hours, something which can hardly be seen as the path to cheap young drivers insurance.
