Aimed at reducing young driver road deaths and young driver insurance, Mercedes-Benz have opened a driving academy set to transform the way young motorists learn to drive. The three part learning scheme is hoped to coach students to become good drivers before, during and after they take their test.
Based in Weybridge Surrey, Mercedes-Benz World has its own motor circuit where students as young as 12 can enroll in the academy and start mastering driving skills in a safe environment under the tuition of qualified personal instructor.
Similar schemes in Sweden have cut young driver deaths by 40% and the Mercedes-Benz academy is hoped to have a similar result. As well as teaching basic driving skills, the course also looks at dealing with peer pressure in the car, journey planning, first aid and the best ways to drive ecologically and economically.
Managing Director, Peter O'Halloran commented, "Mercedes-Benz Driving Academy provides young people with the skills and thought based experiences that go beyond the requirements of just passing the driving test."
As well as cutting young motorist road deaths, the scheme could also help reduce young driver car insurance as well.
