Young and old drivers should forego festive tipple

The Scottish Police has arrested a number of people, including some with cheap car insurance for young drivers, who have been navigating the roads while under the influence of alcohol.

One young lady was found to have broken the drink drive law on Boxing Day, less than 48 hours after she had passed her driving test. She apparently consumed excessive amounts of alcohol on Christmas evening.

Another motorist was arrested for being drunk at the time of crashing her vehicle into a stationary car along Tarwoodle Road in the Scottish Borders.

The Scottish law enforcers are said to be in despair over the large amount of people who have displayed a lack of regard for road safety. However, they noted that some law abiding citizens have alerted their local officers to the careless behaviour of drunken drivers.

A key representative of the Association of Chief Police Officers said, "We have detected 107 people who still thought it appropriate to drink and drive, in addition another nine who were caught driving whilst impaired by drugs and four who were caught driving whilst impaired by alcohol."

They went on to point out that drink drivers are liable to have their licenses revoked and receive a sizeable fine. These irresponsible individuals may also have difficulty securing cheap car insurance upon renewal.
