Student car insurance customers struggle to get insurance
Those wanting a good deal on student car insurance will be disappointed to learn that two-thirds of motor insurance providers are refusing to take on 17-year-old drivers.
Some believe that car insurance providers are turning away young drivers in the hope that it will put pressure on the Government to increase the legal driving age to 18.
A spokesperson for Norwich Union said: "I recently saw a claim for £8m on a car worth £500. There were three young people in the back seat of the car not wearing seatbelts. In these situations the ones who do not die can be left requiring care 24 hours a day, seven days a week."
Commenting on the story, a spokesperson for Hoot Car Insurance Services, the experts in cheap car insurance added: "Some young drivers can find it difficult searching for cheap premiums and the latest news just goes to show how much harder it can be to find a suitable provider."
