A young go-karter, who hasn't yet had to purchase a young drivers car insurance policy, was recently given the opportunity to drive a powerful formula BMW car around a Valencia race track.
The high profile Durham young driver was chosen alongside two other child prodigies to partake in a pre-season test for the BMW talent cup.
The three prospective student car insurance buyers were happy with the opportunity to be trained by leading experts from the racing world during their time in Spain.
However, the 14-year-old, who is more used to driving around in a 70mph kart, admitted to being a little daunted by the prospect of driving a vehicle which could zoom from 0-60mph in four seconds.
Reflecting upon the experience he said, "We watched some other drivers on-track first, and there was one guy who crashed pretty badly, which I think shook everyone up a bit."
"I was so nervous before I went out for the first time, but once I settled into it I was pretty relaxed, and the visibility was fine. It was physically harder to drive than a kart and it demanded a lot of concentration, but it was so much fun - and it just felt really, really good."
The go-karter felt more comfortable behind the wheel of the BMW as the event went on. Subsequent to completing his allotted laps he declared his intention to drive cars like this in the future.
It is expected that he will began driving lessons and invest in young drivers car insurance at the earliest possible opportunity.
