Customers would benefit from roaming eye

A new piece of research by an online insurance comparison website has found that surprisingly few Brits are savvy about switching provider in order to find a cheap car insurance deal.

TescoCompare found that 43% of motorists stayed loyal to their motor insurance company for three years or longer.

This is despite that fact that motor insurance premiums require annual renewal, something which gives customers more scope to shop around for the best cheap car insurance deal available in a very competitive market.

Not surprisingly, 70% of those customers who had recently taken the opportunity to switch provider said that they did so because their new provider was able to offer them a better deal on cheap car insurance.

Mike Page, spokesperson with online motor insurance specialists Hoot Car Insurance Services, commented, "Not all vehicle insurance providers share, come renewal time, the same level of commitment to their customers.

"If people feel that they might be able to get a better deal, they should go elsewhere. We find that the only thing many of our new customers regret is not having left their previous provider earlier."
