You've chosen what make and model of car you want to buy, found some cheap young driver insurance and now all you have to do is decide what colour you want.
Easy right? Think again. The colour you go for can affect anything from how many times you get stopped by the police to how many times your car gets pooped on, so your choice of car hue could prove an important factor to ponder upon.
Car manufacturers are replacing fancy new technologies with unique paint jobs in a bid to find cheaper ways to make their cars stand out, so the amount of colours to choose form is getting even bigger. The amount of car colours for all 2009 models is up by 60 which brings the total number of available car colours up to a whopping 5,670.
Jim Parker, senior manager of Chrysler's colour and trim studio, said, "An eye-catching colour is one of the most successful ways to make a great first impression with the customer."
Many car manufacturers are therefore opting for brighter colours such as oranges and lime greens.
However, car colour goes far beyond just commercial promotional value. Studies have shown that birds are more likely to poo on blue cars than green, police are more likely to stop red cars than silver, and those driving yellow cars are more likely to have a sunnier disposition than those driving black cars.
You may even get a different rate on your young driver insurance depending on the colour of your car.
