Scottish motorists, including those with car insurance for new drivers, will be happy to hear that there has been a substantial decrease in the number of people dying on the nation's roads in recent years.
Last year there were 13,324 people either injured or killed during road accidents north of the border. This figure was down 11% from that recorded during the previous year.
The number of deaths dropped by 4% from 2009 to 2010, and there was also a significant reduction in the amount of badly injured drivers.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) was keen to point out that these figures have surpassed the target set by the Department for Transport at the turn of the 21st century.
However, the road safety organisation is keen to see further reductions in the number of crashes and young person's car insurance claims over the coming years.
A spokesperson for RoSPA said, "Road safety is everyone's responsibility and there are many things we can all do to help make our roads safer."
They went on to claim that people with car insurance for new drivers would benefit from advanced training, such as that offered by the Pass Plus course leaders.
