When you buy car insurance for young drivers you may feel your car and its contents are totally covered, but this may not necessarily be the case.
Data from Confused.com has revealed that up to seven million UK drivers keep over £200 worth of valuables in their car and almost three million have over £400 of items kept in their vehicle.
Statistics also reveal that a car is broken into every 13 seconds and with so many desirable items such as sat-navs, i-pods, lap tops and expensive sports equipment, such as golf clubs, left in parked cars, is it any wonder that opportunist thieves are tempted to steal from them.
A spokesperson for Hoot Car Insurance services commented, "It is important to check your policy to see what value of contents is covered.
"If your vehicle is left unlocked or valuables are not kept out of sight it could invalidate an insurance claim.
"The best advice is to always remove valuables from your vehicle, and this will protect your car insurance for young drivers by helping you to achieve a full no-claim bonus."
