A 21-year-old carpenter will find his car insurance for young drivers is likely to increase after receiving a 12-month ban for dangerous driving.
On 22nd March the young driver had stopped at a service station on the A55 for a sleep, as it was very early in the morning; however, upon waking, he turned right as he exited the services and headed the wrong way up the multi-carriageway.
He drove for 13 miles, narrowly avoiding several head-on collisions, before being stopped by a police road block.
A pre-sentence report was considereded at Prestatyn magistrates' court on 1st April and the court then banned the man from driving for twelve months. He will now have to take an extended driving test before he can drive again after serving the ban.
The driver, who had pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and to not having valid car insurance for young drivers, was ordered to pay costs of £60 and to carry out 40 hours of unpaid work.
