Car insurance quotes rising fast, but can be combated
The Co-operative insurance firm has revealed that car insurance for young drivers has risen four times faster than inflation in the last year.
At the same time, there has been a growing number of uninsured drivers on UK roads.
David Neave, Co-operative director of general insurance said, "With this continuing trend, which directly reflects the increased risk posed by young drivers, a whole generation could become uninsurable, adding to the already growing problem in the UK."
However, the Environmental Transport Association (ETA) has said that young drivers can achieve a better deal on their car insurance.
A spokesperson for the ETA said, "Certain policies now offer young drivers cheaper premiums if they agree to avoid driving late at night, which is when most of their collisions take place."
A Hoot spokesperson commented, "A specialist provider of online car insurance for young drivers, such as Hoot, can often find a deal that will beat other premium costs. It pays to shop around and be open minded when looking for car cover quotes."
