Cover for young drivers set to be higher in Hull
Car insurance for young drivers could be more expensive in Hull after a new survey revealed motorists in the city are more likely to fall victim to car thieves.
However, vehicle thefts dropped overall across the UK by 12 per cent last year compared to 2007 - so for some, car insurance rates could be more competitive.
With Hull being the most risky city for car thefts, the next riskiest is Nottingham and then Manchester.
To calculate the level of car theft risk, the study by Endsleigh Insurance assessed frequency of theft between cities and towns recorded via car insurance claims for three years.
Police and community projects were singled out as initiatives that have contributed to the drop in vehicle thefts.
The survey highlights how the cost of car insurance for young drivers, as well as experienced motorists, can differ from place to place across the country.
