Road skills make car insurance for young drivers cheaperRoad safety experts in the UK are working to cut the risk of dying - and the cost of car insurance for young drivers - by improving motoring skills. Two schemes are being promoted this week that are typical of the skilled assistance often available to all Britain's motoring youth – boy racers ‘et al'. It's worth trying to find a course near you. As part of an accident prevention program in West Sussex, members of the Institute of Advanced Motorists provide guidance to young people that can increase their driving standards. Evidence shows that motorists involved in 40 per cent of fatal road accidents are less than 26 years old. During the Young Drivers Skills Course, driving knowledge and experience is improved and honed. Challenges include skid pan training, and car drives monitored by expert instructors such as police driver trainers. And in Lincolnshire, police have launched their latest skidpan training initiative to work to make roads safer - in conjunction with Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership. The skidpan is used to simulate bad motoring and weather conditions. By learning how to avoid car accidents, the cost of car insurance for young drivers can be kept as low as possible - and more importantly, they stay alive and safe.
