Experts want to empower younger motorists
Motor Insurance specialists have spoken of the need to educated younger motorists of the importance of car insurance for young drivers.
According to one expert, many do not comprehend the value of having full and comprehensive cover and are instead put off by the prohibitive price of most car insurance for young drivers.
Because of this, many do not take out important policy options such as breakdown cover, when, in fact, as the driving demographic most likely to make a claim, young drivers are consequently the most likely to benefit.
However, the expert says that vehicle insurers have a responsibility to provide younger motorists with the information and services that can assist them in receiving cheap and comprehensive car insurance for young drivers.
"Insurance companies need to do a lot to look after their drivers and they are not doing that at the moment," he said.
"There are too many claims being made by young, inexperienced drivers. The insurance companies, instead of trying to work with the young drivers, just move out of the market, which forces the premiums up."
He also described the cost of some car insurance premiums for young drivers as "horrendous".
