A campaign has recently been launched with the aim of reducing the amount of crashes involving people with car insurance for young drivers.
The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) is playing their part by facilitating the development of an improved driver training system.
The influential organisation announced that they will work in partnership with the government to ensure that the lives of novice motorists are not lost on the roads.
The IAM Chief Executive, said, "The government is right to prioritise saving young drivers' lives in its new ten-year road safety strategy.
"Having analysed systems of post-test training from other countries, we know that the best examples have reduced young male deaths by almost 30 per cent."
The IAM plans to introduce an accredited training programme, delivered by expert driving instructors, for novice motorists in the initial 12-18 months following their successful completion of the basic driving test.
Drivers with student car insurance will be among those who may benefit from the additional training. They will be given the opportunity to practice driving in the wet and accelerating around bends.
It is hoped that those motorists who have proved their worth on an intensive IAM course will subsequently enjoy access to cheaper deals on car insurance for young drivers.
