Motorists with car insurance for young people and more seasoned road users are likely to be pleased to know that in order to make it easier for drivers to reach their destinations this festive season, many road-works around the UK have been suspended.
The Highways Agency has postponed more than 500 miles of road-works for the Christmas week and has also deferred a further 60 miles of work between the 23rd December and January 3rd, freeing up 98% of the British road network from disruption.
The Transport Secretary explained, "Christmas is one of the busiest times on our roads and that's why we will be completing or lifting road-works wherever possible to help people get back to see their families and loved ones."
However, the agency has advised car owners to check for disruptions along their chosen route by looking at the Highways Agency website, which should help them plan their journey better whether they are new drivers or more experienced road users.
Although many road-works have been postponed, work will continue at 29 locations where the safety of motorists would be at risk otherwise.
