Online price comparison service set to be in the moneyPrice comparison website moneysupermarket.com, which numbers a facility for car insurance quotes among its many services, has announced that it remains on target to meet its yearly profit forecasts. The news comes despite speculations that the stock-listed company might feel the effects of the "credit crunch". The company even felt confident enough to predict that the value of its online operations will rise by as much as 60% for the year. The announcement will have pleased shareholders as it contributed to 13% rise in the value of moneysupermarket.com shares. Its chief executive commented, "In the year that we listed on the London Stock Exchange we are happy to confirm that we expect to report revenues and profits that meet expectations. "Uncertainty in the financial markets remains and has been ever-present through most of the second half of the year. This has had little impact on our trading to date but visibility continues to remain limited." The public statement also included details of the company's investment of £600,000 in a German motor insurance channel, adding that the investment was receiving positive attention. Despite an unsure credit market, the popularity of comparison websites for such things as car insurance quotes, broadband deals and mortgage lenders continues to grow. However, in separate news, Easier Finance recently carried a report detailing concern at the practice of some comparison websites who accept advertising money to place providers at the top of their search-listings. This has prompted fears that some people may sometimes be seeking, for example, the very best in cheap car insurance, only to be directed to a deal offered by an advertiser.
