A new piece of research has revealed that becoming a celebrity has an immediate impact on the cost of your motor insurance quote. For a long time actors and rock stars have had to pay more money for their car insurance than the majority of people in less glamorous 9 to 5 occupations, but now celebrity has been added to the ream of occupations listed by UK car insurance companies. While it is not quite clear precisely what a celebrity does, being a self-declared celebrity clearly has the effect of making the cost of a motor insurance quote more prohibitive. For example, Jade Goody now pays 22% more for her car insurance than she did in pre-celebrity life as a nurse. Brian Belo, the most recent winner of reality television programme Big Brother, now pays 40% more for his car insurance than he would have done had he continued to work as a clerk. There are several reasons behind the high cost of celebrity motor insurance quotes. One is celebrity's perceived frivolity behind the wheel, the other is the high likelihood of them sharing their vehicles with other celebrities, leading to potentially expensive accidents.
