Man dreams of cheap car insurance after M4 smash

Many of us drivers have nightmares about a crash that wrecks our lives and ruins our cheap car insurance premiums - but not many wake up to find they've come true.

However, that's exactly what happened to a Latvian driver who fell asleep at the wheel whilst on the M4.

He was awakened by the sound of his car rear-ending another driver, and faced with all the carnage assumed he was still asleep. It wasn't until police arrived to arrest him that the 42-year-old, a lorry driver by trade, began to take things a little more seriously.

Suspecting the man was drunk, officers carried out a breath test. The results showed he was more than two and a half times over the limit.

"Looks like the dream of cheap car insurance premiums is over for this man," said Mike Page, spokesman for the online car insurance specialists at Hoot.
