Cheap car insurance firm rejects white van man stereotypeBritish van drivers are not the 'road menace' we all imagined the to be, according to the latest research from cheap car insurance firm Budget. Contrary to the obnoxious, overweight stereotype of 'white van man', they are health- and image conscious drivers who use their vans for recreation as well as for business. Researchers at Budget found that 73 percent of van drivers were concerned about their appearance whilst working, and 60 percent said they keep trim by preparing a packed lunch rather than piling on the calories in a greasy spoon café. 64 percent like to spend time in their vans outside of working hours, with 22 percent going on holiday in them and 20 percent using them for family trips. The findings go hand in hand with those of another cheap car insurance firm, Cornhill Direct. The Cornhill study suggested UK van drivers were so well-behaved that they actually deserved cheaper motor insurance premiums than the rest of us.
