Checklist for Driving: cheap car insurance, MOT, car tax and the crash dummy!
Swedish research has shown that women drivers are three times more likely to suffer whiplash injury than men in a rear-end shunt accident.
The researchers are also calling for new designs of crash test dummies to reflect the average-sized woman.
MIRA, a design, development and testing specialist based in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, performs testing procedures for cars sold worldwide.
A spokesperson said, "There are lots of different dummies out there. No-one thinks they've got the definitive dummy.
"Which one you use depends on what part of the world you want to sell a car in and what specific tests you carry out."
The Swedish research concluded that women sit differently in their seats to men; usually closer to the steering wheel with the back of the seat in a more upright position.
Cheap car insurance will only protect you financially in an accident - a properly-adjusted head restraint will protect you physically as well.
