It is no wonder that cheap car insurance for young drivers is difficult to find when a recent survey has found that more than half of young people fear for their safety when one of their peers is at the wheel.
The statistics are based on a pol,l taken during Road Safety Week', of 8,110 15-25 year olds across the UK.
More than half (54%) say that their safety has been compromised when they have been in the car with a member of their own age group as the driver, as well as 24% saying that they have been aware that the driver has taken either drugs or alcohol.
These factors can not only increase the cost young driver car insurance, if they are caught, but also increase the risk of the driver causing a serious injury or fatality.
The poll also found that a fifth of those questioned do not always wear a seatbelt when they are the passenger of a young driver.
Having cheap car insurance for young drivers available for those who respect the road and the safety of their passengers is important as it teaches that positive driving habits are rewarded.
However, more than 82% of respondents say that they would support at least one restriction on young drivers, such as a ban on certain vehicle types, or a zero-tolerance alcohol level.
