Cheap car insurance for young drivers may be easy to find if the latest invention by Perry Watkins hits mass production. The 47-year-old from Wingrave, Buckinghamshire, has officially become the owner of the world's smallest car after the US-based World Records Academy confirmed that his creation, which stands at a tiny 39 inches high and only 26 inches wide, is the smallest car ever built.
Watkins created the car out of an old Postman Pat sit on ride which he found for sale on ebay. After a few alterations including the addition of a 150cc engine, mirrors, windscreen wipers, washers, lights, indicators, racing exhaust pipes and a fresh lick of paint, the car was ready for the road. Sadly Postman Pat and his black-and white-cat did not survive the car's refurbishment.
With road tax and motor insurance, the clown-sized car, nicknamed "The Wind up" is fully road legal and has caused local residents to do double takes as they can't believe just how small the car is.
With car companies competing over the smallest and most economical car, Watkins may just be onto something with his invention as small engine cars are often the way forward for finding cheap car insurance for young drivers.
