Mass pile up on German motorway injures 65

After a mass pile up last Sunday night, cheap car insurance is going to be hard to find for some German motorists.

Ten people are still fighting for their lives after the 20 mile stretch of car crashes between Hanover and Peine. More than 65 people were injured in the multiple accidents and over forty ambulances and three air ambulances attended the scene which involved over 200 cars.

Police are blaming heavy rain and excessive speeds for one of the worst motorway incidents in decades. Emergency services were working through the night to help treat the injured and clear debris from the carriageway.

The crash victims mainly included families going off on vacation after the school holidays began at the end of last week.

About 260 car owners, including young motorists, are expected to make claims on their car insurance which will cause many of their premiums to increase when they come to renew. Many motorists will have been forced to sacrifice their no claims bonus discounts after making a claim from the crash which will make finding a cheap car insurance deal even harder.
