A couple in their 20s had a lucky escape after their car spun out of control on the M5, although it is unlikely that the driver's cheap car insurance premium managed to make it out unscathed.
The two were travelling northwards on the motorway towards Birmingham when a tyre blew out, sending their car out of control. They veered from the middle lane, across the outside lane and into the central reservation, before coming to a halt.
According to West Midlands Ambulance Service, the man and the woman managed to get out the vehicle before emergency services arrived, and neither was hurt in the potentially fatal crash.
However, their car was a different matter. It sustained serious damage in the incident, including a ruptured radiator that was seen spouting a plume of steam at the scene.
From this report, it seems likely that the owner of the car will need to make a claim on their young driver car insurance to pay for repairs, dealing a severe blow to their chance of finding another cheap car insurance rate in the near future.
