Cover for young drivers is often costly

The MP for Bradford East has said that the government should make a concerted effort to ensure that cheap insurance for young drivers becomes easier to obtain.

Mr David Ward claimed that motorists are currently having to pay over the odds for comprehensive cover, and that the government should address the issue at the earliest possible opportunity.

Mr Ward made his demands after a recently qualified motorist from Bradford East was asked to pay £50,000 for young driver car insurance. The MP is eager to put a stop to extortionate policy quotations such as this.

He said, "Young people and new drivers suffer the most of all. Young drivers have always been classified as a high risk group so for that reason alone they have historically faced higher premiums."

Apparently David Ward decided to launch an online petition after receiving numerous letters from people across Bradford complaining of the increasing cost of cover.

So far, 150 people have put their names down on the petition, and many more are expected to do so over the coming weeks and months.

People who are particularly eager to obtain cheap insurance for young drivers have been encouraged to enrol on post-test driver training courses, such as Pass Plus.
