Finding cheap insurance for young drivers is becoming more difficult, and it becomes apparent why this is may be by taking a look at the statistics. In 2009 alone, 45,701 drivers between the ages of 17 and 24 were involved in serious crashes and of these, 564 were killed as a result of their injuries.
On average, 2,000 young people are killed in the UK because of road accidents every month. Almost a third of all the accidents on British roads are caused by novice drivers.
In order to stop the incidents from continuing, certain celebrities, including Channel 5 presenter Natalie Pinkham, are teaming up to help launch the RoadSafe for Parents Campaign. This campaign aims to help boost driver education and will show how essential car insurance for new drivers is.
Free software has also been donated to more than 3000 schools across the UK, by a2om's Drive IQ team. The software includes the most in-depth theory and hazard perception practice tests available and has been handed out to ensure that young drivers are properly educated and able to handle the responsibilities of the road. Hopefully the software will eventually be used as part of the school curriculum.
The RoadSafe campaign is also trying to create an auditing trail, which insurance companies could use in order to offer rewards such as cheap insurance for young drivers who have not made any claims.
Natalie Pinkman says, "Most people feel pretty invincible when they start to drive, yet the reality is that thousands of families are devastated every month by news that someone they know has been hurt or killed in a crash.
"That's why I wholeheartedly support this campaign".
