Corrie star Ryan Thomas may have trouble finding young driver car insurance after being fined for leaving the scene of a car accident.
The 25-year-old, who plays Weatherfield builder Jason Grimshaw in the popular soap, lost control of his car and hit crash barriers at a junction in Manchester last October while driving with passengers.
Following the car crash, one of the passengers dialled 999 while Thomas travelled home in a passing taxi. He voluntarily attended a police station later that week to discuss the car accident.
Manchester Magistrates' Court heard that the actor failed to stop as he felt intimidated by a group of spectators who recognised him and began taking photographs.
As well as a £2,020 fine for failing to stop and report the accident, the actor was given 5 penalty points and ordered to pay £50 costs.
Thomas' lawyer commented, "He regrets the matter and apologises for his involvement."
Due to his penalty points, the corrie star may now struggle to find cheap young driver insurance.
