Age bill to help cut cover for young drivers Young drivers premiums are set to drop under new age discrimination laws; helping teenagers, students and other motoring youths to enjoy even better cheap car insurance deals, it is claimed. The speculation arises from a law called the Equalities Bill that could force insurers to cut the cost of cover for young people. However, there is also a warning that the bill could make some young drivers uninsurable and unable to obtain cover. At the moment, average premiums are around £460 - but for youths, this can be more than double i.e. about 115 per cent higher, or an average of almost £1000. Hoot, a company who track down cheap car insurance for young drivers, is advising teenagers, students and other youths to contact insurers specialising in finding cover for people of their age. A Hoot spokesperson said, "It seems the new bill could help or hinder young drivers. Here at Hoot, we have contacts within the car insurance market to find the best deal when you are looking for cover."
