Study finds online car insurance at risk for many driversCheck your motor insurance policy, says a leading online car insurance provider. In a recent study, Zurich Insurance discovered that a high number of motorists are unaware of what their cheap car insurance policy covers them for. The study found that UK drivers leave £3.9 billion worth of gadgets in their cars with the average cost of drivers' possessions amounting to £145. Following the research, Zurich has warned people that leaving such expensive items in a car might be giving opportunist thieves a very easy ride. The head of motor underwriting at Zurich Insurance said: "We would urge people, wherever possible, not to leave valuables in their car and, if they have no other option, ensure that they are locked in the boot." The research into drivers' habits also found that more than a quarter said it would be easier to leave their possessions in the car, with one in ten motorists saying they were too lazy to move their belongings. A spokesman at Hoot Car Insurance Services, the online car insurance provider, said: "It is really important that drivers look at their young driver car insurance policy and check what they're covered for. If they have items stolen from their vehicle, they might find it difficult to replace them without having to pay out extra."
