Young driver car insurance at risk on rural roadsMore car accidents on rural roads happen to young people less then 25 years old, research from Roadsafe and Autoglass has revealed - highlighting the importance of young driver car insurance in case of crashes. Most road fatalities happen away from urban areas - and as many as one in three young drivers put their lives at risk with some careless driving antics such as:
- High-speed bend-taking on blind corners
- Breaking the speed limit on less busy lanes
At least two thirds of young motorists fail to realise they are more likely to kill or seriously injure themselves on rural roads compared to urban roads, highways and motorways. Quieter roads in the country leads drivers to believe they are safer to drive on - but, in fact, rural roads feature dangerous hazards such as sharp bends, animals emerging from undergrowth, slower vehicles, even hills and steep slopes. Autoglass warned that such hazards posed a serious risk to young drivers because time to react is seriously lower than where there is better conditions on safer wider public highways. Smaller cars have been recommended by BIBA - British Insurance Brokers' Association - to keep car insurance costs as low as possible, even causing less damage in road traffic accidents.
