Safer, cheaper driving after advanced training

The cost of car insurance for young drivers can be reduced by savvy motorists looking for cheaper cover, as demonstrated by courses run at one UK branch of the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM).

To help tackle the high numbers of deaths and injuries among teenage drivers, students and those aged under 25 - or caused by them - free tuition has been provided by the IAM in north Wales.

Chester and East Clwyd IAM laid on the courses for the 'at risk' group, with the advanced training being taken up by more than 30 young drivers.

Branch chairman Paul Consterdine said, "This is a really effective scheme for those young drivers who, having already passed the national driving test, want to go further and develop their skills."

In press reports, he said young people enjoyed a sense of accomplishment working to achieve driving improvements that stayed with them for life, keeping them safe and avoiding accidents on UK roads.

As well as improving motoring standards, participating and passing advanced driver training can lead to a reduction in the price of car insurance for young drivers, making quotes and premiums substantially cheaper. Well worth signing up for!
