Hungry motorists risking cheap car insurance

Motorists admit to dangerous driving, a study by Sainsbury's Car Insurance has found.

A huge number of cheap car insurance customers could be risking their affordable premiums after a recent survey found that many admitted to driving dangerously, with the majority of the offences concerning eating at the wheel.

The motor insurance company found that as well as eating during commutes, 34% drove whilst tired, 20% with no shoes on their feet and 14% said that they had used a mobile phone in their car.

The Sainsbury's Car Insurance manager said: "It can be easy to become complacent behind the wheel of a car especially when driving regular routes but our advice is to stay alert and safe and don't be distracted.

"Just one mistake could have terrible consequences. Unfortunately, many motorists may not have considered the dangers behind some of their actions."

Driving dangerously could easily increase the risk of being involved in a road accident. If a motorist has to make a claim on their UK motor insurance policy, they could well discover a rise in their cheap car insurance.
