New research from confused.com, the motor insurance quote comparison site, has revealed that two out of three parents get dangerously distracted by their children whilst at the wheel.
53 percent listed a child's screaming or demanding something among their top driving distractions, and roughly the same number have had to swerve, brake suddenly or miss a turning because of a young passenger.
"Short of leaving them at home with a babysitter, there's not very much parents can do to counter the distraction of unruly children," said Mike Page, spokesman for the cheap car insurance specialists at Hoot.
"It's hard to say how other car insurance firms will react to this research - or whether school-run mums can expect to see a mark-up on their next motor insurance quotes as a result," he added.
