Flux offers cheap car insurance for driftersYou'd think that drivers involved in the UK drifting scene would end up paying more for their premiums than the rest of us - but in fact Adrian Flux is offering them discounts on cheap car insurance. 'Drifting' is a new kind of motorsport involving spectacular yet controlled oversteering, and it has gained considerable popularity in this country over the past few years. In 2006, 18,000 people showed up to watch the final round of that season's competition, and in 2007 the crowd promises to be even bigger. Drifting is a uniquely accessible motorsport because practically any car can be entered into the competition. As the sport's current champion puts it: "People can bring along their car to a track day, learn how to do it and then have a go - as long as it's rear wheel drive." Due to the large numbers of street-legal vehicles taking part, drifting is responsible for a new and expanding section of the specialist motor insurance market - and it's a niche that Adrian Flux has been quick to fill. Besides sponsoring the current British champion, Flux is offering a 15 percent discount on its cheap car insurance for any member of driftworks.com, the popular drifting internet forum. "Most serious drifters are going to be modifying their car, so they'll need a specialist policy," said an Adrian Flux spokesman. "We have loads of schemes and options to give cheaper insurance, however mad your motor."
