Motor insurance provider backs government campaignThe motor insurance switching website, uSwitch.com, has announced that it is backing a new campaign to tackle drinking driving incidents involving new drivers in the UK. The cheap car insurance price comparison website has welcomed the governments new advertising campaign, which hopes to reduce the number of young drivers involved in drink driving related car accidents. The head of car insurance at uSwitch.com said, "We strongly welcome the government's new 'Moments of Doubt' advertising campaign and hope it will successfully tackle the growing issue of young people drinking and driving head on." He also added that motorists involved in drink driving accidents not only face paying a costly fine but could also be forced to pay a much higher premium on their young driver car insurance in the future. He said, "In the first year after a conviction, a young driver could pay up to £1004 more for their car insurance - over a three year period this could be more than £3000. Worse still, in some cases these drivers may not be able to find a new insurance provider as they present such a high risk." It is hoped that the campaign will reduce the number of people being involved in drink driving accidents, helping them to keep both themselves and their cheap car insurance premiums safe.
