A Kidderminster man has been jailed for a string of motoring offences including driving without car insurance and whilst disqualified.
The disgraced driver was jailed for 29 months after appearing at Worcester Crown Court for offences including driving under the influence of alcohol and aggravated vehicle taking.
At least two of the offences occurred whilst the man was at a shop or bar counter where he took keys that had been placed down by another customer at the establishment.
On one occasion the accused was drinking in a pub with an acquaintance who left his keys on the table when he went to the toilet. The Kidderminster car thief took the keys and left the pub. CCTV footage then shows him getting into the other man's car and driving off.
The defendant's lawyer said: "He is remorseful for what he did and concedes his behaviour has been absolutely stupid."
It was revealed to the jury that he had 82 previous convictions including 17 for driving whilst disqualified. On this occasion he admitted to driving without car insurance, driving whilst disqualified and two offences of failing to surrender to bail.
