Motorists who have successfully completed their driving tests have been urged to keep learning by a specialist provider of young drivers insurance.
A spokesperson for the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) claimed that individuals given additional training act in a more responsible manner when behind the wheel.
They went on to point out that drivers who have passed courses such as Pass Plus and Skill for Life are often rewarded with cheap car insurance for young people.
They also said that "All drivers start as new drivers, and we are committed to encouraging young drivers to develop safely, and to continuing to learn and develop throughout their driving careers."
In related news, the IAM recently reported that the average novice driver is expected to pay at least £12,000 for their first year of motoring.
This figure takes account of the cost of lessons, buying and maintaining a new vehicle and a motoring policy. Driving will become more expensive if the price of petrol continues to rise.
It is thought that driving expenses are so high that some people are being discouraged from taking to the wheel in the first place. Others may choose to buy cheap and potentially unsafe vehicles or do without young drivers insurance, which is illegal.
