Cheap car insurance news - Hackers tell Crawley to "F**k off"

Crawley is a town in West Sussex where about 100,000 people live, including Gareth Southgate and Chico from X Factor.

Local attractions include: The Hawth theatre, Crawley Leisure Park, Broadfield Stadium (home of Crawley Town F.C.) and CineWorld.

So, why Crawley?

Or more specifically, why did a band of internet hackers choose Crawley as the latest target for their anarchic pranks? Why hijack three laser display boards on Crawley approach roads and bombard Crawley commuters with six-foot high profanities?

Why tell Crawley to "F**k off"?

"I have no idea," said a Crawley Council spokesman. "This was not the work of the council, but we apologise for the offence.

"Some people found it rather amusing," he added, though whether he was referring to the hackers or members of the public is unclear.

"Maybe the space cadets got frustrated whilst searching for online car insurance?" suggested Mike Page, spokesman for the cheap car insurance experts at Hoot.

"But then, I would say that," he said. "Cheap car insurance is my life."
