Insurers getting more computer savvy

Good news for UK drivers who like to get their motor insurance quotes online. An announcement by the Association of British Motor Insurers during their Motor Conference has detailed how road safety minister Jim Fitzpatrick has given the all clear for car insurance customers to receive their motor insurance certificates by email.

With more and more people choosing to shop around for motor insurance quotes online, the move has been universally welcomed by those in the industry. As well as being more convenient, it is predicted that the move will have a positive environmental impact. It is also expected that the initiative will save taxpayers between £5 million and £10 million a year.

Justin Jacobs, assistant director of property, motor and liability with the ABI, reflected the general mood when he said that the change will benefit customer service and show that the insurance industry is keeping abreast of changing technology.

Many UK drivers are already familiar with online technologies, choosing to get motor insurance quotes and policies from online car insurance companies such as Hoot.
