Insurance costs can be helped with extra tuition.
Young drivers' insurance providers and families of young people killed in young driver car accidents welcome new initiatives to highlight the dangers of UK roads.
At a cost of £65 for five hours tuition over three sessions Norfolk County Council are now offering young drivers, between 17-25-years-old or anyone who has passed their test in the last two years, the chance to have one-to-one, tailor-made tuition on Norfolk's rural roads as part of their Young Driver Experience initiative.
Families of teenagers killed in the county by young drivers welcomed the training scheme.
Liz Voysey, regional head of Roadpeace, a charity which offers support for the victims of road crashes, said "This is a fantastic initiative. When you take your driving test, you just learn to pass the test, you haven't really learnt about the big picture of driving - it is not possible.
"Car crashes are either caused by people breaking the law or people being negligent, and I support anything that encourages people to drive more safely." A spokesperson for Hoot, the specialist providers of young drivers' insurance, commented, "Further driver training after you have passed your test is always a good idea and will help you get the cheapest car insurance deals."
