Driver could face paying higher online car insurance premiums

A man who crashed into two parked cars because he was eating a plateful of spaghetti behind the wheel has been caught by police.

The German motorist could risk losing his cheap online car insurance in the future if charges are made against him for the serious road accident that occurred in Goerwihl in south-east Germany.

When police found the 28-year-old male hours following the crash they discovered stains of carbonara on his shirt and even a string of spaghetti in his hair.

A police spokesperson commented on the event and said: "He tried to claim the car had been stolen but the food matched up. It appears he had been eating it in the car at the time of the accident."

Mike Page, a spokesman for Hoot Car Insurance Services, the young driver car insurance provider, said: "We would advise motorists to never eat a meal whilst driving. This is a serious matter and could easily cause an accident for which you would later have to claim on your online car insurance for."
