Rewards for the green driver says motor insurance firm
After Norwich Union dropped its Pay As You Drive motor
insurance policy due to a low take-up, More Th>n became
the only insurer offering a telematics-based car
insurance policy.
Under the scheme, a box is fitted that monitors driving: lower premiums will be issued to drivers who drive only during certain off-peak times and keep to an agreed mileage limit. "Drive Time" is More Th>n's policy for young drivers; giving a low rate policy as long as the driver does not drive late at night. Eco-ratings will also be awarded for drivers who abstain from over-revving their engine, accelerating or braking sharply and driving too fast. Green drivers will get an A rating, whilst those with "boy racer" tendencies will get a G.
More Than's product director Dowshan Humzah said: "Many people simply cannot afford to be without their vehicles, but neither can they afford to sustain the cost of motoring. Instead, people will soon be looking for other ways to reduce costs, and the role motor insurance plays in this is important."
