Young racing driver Lewis Hamilton didn't see red light Is it because he is young? Driver insurance for Lewis Hamilton should surely be in question after his 'prang' in Montreal recently. It was a simple case of not paying attention; whilst Raikkonen had stopped for a red light at the end of the pit lane, waiting patiently to re-enter the stream of traffic, the hot-headed young driver failed to see, or maybe comprehend, the situation and drove directly into the back of his adversary. Hamilton commented, "I saw the two guys in front of me battling in the pit lane and I was trying to make sure I didn't get involved, but then they stopped. I saw the red light but it was too late.' This sort of mistake may have been expected from a rookie, but Hamilton at 23, in his second Formula One season, should not be making these sorts of gaffes, if they continue and, rather like Brazil and China last season, cost him the Championship, serious questions will have to be asked. Of-course he has been punished for his driving mistake; next race he will start ten places down on his grid qualifying place, but one has to question, is this enough? A car insurance spokesperson said, "The average young driver's insurance would be severely affected if this sort of accident occurred. Continued bad driving habits would eventually result in a conviction for careless driving, which may even result in a ban. Hamilton, at this moment, is not proving a great role model for young drivers where vigilance and careful driving is key at all times."
