Britain's longest and busiest motorway is also its most boring stretch of road, according to cheap car insurance firm Cornhill Direct.
So be sure to turn the music all the way up and stop for a coffee every chance you get when venturing onto the treacherously dull M6, which runs a full 230 miles from Rugby to Carlisle.
The cheap car insurance provider surveyed 3,000 motorists, 24 percent of whom admitted that such boring journeys had led to them either pulling off the road to get a grip or, failing that, falling asleep at the wheel.
Mike Page, spokesman for the young driver car insurance champions at Hoot, said: "Driving when you're too tired is bound to end in disaster, even when you're on a relatively stimulating road.
"But 230 miles of flat featureless tarmac at once is enough to put anyone to sleep," he added.
