The M6 motorway has beaten off fierce competition to top yet another poll of UK roads.
In October, we brought you news that the 230 mile monstrosity had been voted Britain's Most Boring Road in research commissioned by cheap car insurance firm Cornhill Direct.
And today, we can reveal that the M6 is as scary as it is tedious. In a bittersweet victory over old rivals the A9 and Great Yarmouth High St, the M6 won the title Britain's Most Haunted Road from pollsters at Tarmac.
Sightings co-ordinators at Tarmac were inundated with spooky stories from M6 drivers, including phantom Roman centurions, shrieking harpies and spectral artics driving against the flow of traffic.
"Paranormal activity is responsible for more car insurance claims than you'd think," said Mike Page, spokesman for the cheap car insurance wizards at Hoot.
"I heard the Fortean Times has a motoring section now," he added.
