One way to reduce the cost of car insurance for young drivers may be seen in the information released by an online comparison site that married couples may save money - but they need to tell their motor insurance company for this to happen.
Becoming a newly-wed could reduce a young driver's insurance costs by 16%, according to research. The website's spokesman suggests this is because statistics suggest that people who are ready to marry are more likely to be ready for stability in the way they act in the world and therefore less likely to act in a way that could jeopardise a cheap car insurance premium.
Other voices in the motor insurance field suggest that married couples also tend to drive less than two people in a less formalised relationship.
A spokesperson from Hoot said, "Despite the approach of Valentine's Day, we really can't recommend a proposal as a way of reducing quotes for car insurance for young drivers."
