Brits could do with a bit of vehicle Feng ShuiAmong our continental neighbours, Brits have long had a reputation for eccentricity and scattiness. Well, it now seems that new research from Liverpool Victoria has gone some way to confirming at least one half of this stereotype, and the news suggests that UK car insurance customers could be doing more to keep down the prices of their premiums. The researchers found that as many as 24 million Brits could be risking their personal safety, appeal to UK car insurance providers and Zen space by journeying in cluttered and unclean vehicles. A spokesperson with the Liverpool Victoria research team commented, "Keeping loose items in the car could lead to avoidable accidents such as rubbish getting trapped under the pedals whilst you are driving."Not to mention the fact that items such as mp3 players, clothes and sunglasses may attract all sorts of unwanted attention that could put your car at risk of theft." The study also revealed that UK drivers are risking their personal safety and chances of receiving cheap motor insurance in other ways too. 61% of drivers don't inspect their wing mirrors, 55% fail to check their windscreens, while 81% set out on journeys without confirming the good function of their headlights. If it is any consolation, at least we are not vain. 36% of respondents said that they are unconcerned about the appearance of their vehicles.
