You wouldn't know it, but today is the day UK car insurance firms fear the most. That's because statistics show that you're most likely to have an accident on a Monday the 27th (not Friday the 13th).
We've already had two this year, in February and March, and young driver car insurance companies were staggered by an otherwise inexplicable surge in motor insurance claims.
Car insurance firm the AA has just published a report on the phenomenon, based on data gathered from one million claims. It also found Friday the 13th - traditionally the unluckiest day - went by almost without incident.
"Friday the 13th is associated with bad luck," reiterated Kevin Sinclair, spokesman for the young driver car insurance provider. "But records show you're more likely to have an accident or break something on Monday the 27th."
There's good news if you make it through today intact, however. The next Monday 27th isn't due until August 2007.
