On 20 November, we brought you the story of partially-sighted learner Peter Davis and his battle for acceptance on the roads of Burry Port, Carmarthenshire.
Davis, who has been learning for four years, described himself as the perfect driver - but paranoid neighbours feared he might run them down at any moment.
In a shocking update to the story, Hoot can reveal that police have eye-tested Davis and warned him not to drive after more than 300 locals wrote to the DVLA to complain about his driving.
"He will be safer off the roads for his own sake - and for ours as well," said one of the poison pen letter writers.
Davis, dubbed "Mr Magoo" by his enemies, is debating whether or not to take legal advice. He said: "I am very upset. I am a perfect driver, I get better every day."
Mike Page, Hoot spokesman and young driver car insurance guru, said: "Davis shouldn't be driving if his eyesight isn't up to standard - but what an awful way to find out.
"Four years' driving lessons don't come cheap, and to be told after all this time that he would never have been road-legal anyway is a killer blow.
"I guess it spares Davis the trouble of trying to find a young driver car insurance firm that would have covered him, had he passed," he added.
"However, I wouldn't recommend trying to comfort people with motor insurance news - it seldom does anything but make the situation worse."
